Terrible Week

16 Days until my friend's wedding. The stress of my last week at work before vacation was enough to just put me over the edge last night. On the 1st and 15th, the night shift does a pot luck of sorts and decide on a theme. Last night was "breakfast". There were scrambled eggs, egg salad, moravian cookies, toast, bagels, 2 kinds of cinnamon rolls, fruit, this amazing sausagey/potatoey/cheesy casserole, rolls, and coffee with three different wonderful flavors of creamer. I had a large plate of almost everything, and topped it off with BOTH kinds of cinnamon rolls for dessert, plus coffee. I feel disgusting today.

To top it off, after all the eating I did last night, I can't seem to regain focus on how I did the other 6 days of the week. I know I didn't get nearly enough exercise. I'm still struggling with that. I'm hoping to get lots of exercise while on vacation from work. I know I can at least the first week, the 2nd week will be iffy, because I'll be in upstate NY and NYC for a week and then back down the east coast on a whirlwind trip to my friend's wedding. But there should be tons of extra walking thrown into this vacation. There are 2 trips to the state fair scheduled for this weekend and next week. Then of course NYC will be all about walking.

I really have to use these 16 days to my advantage and get some pounds off. Oh, did I mention that my birthday is thrown in there? Yeah, next Friday. For once I think it will be so busy with travelling preparations that there won't really be time to sit around and think up all the wonderful things I can eat during that time.

I'd really love a spa day too. I'm thinking about calling my facial girl tomorrow to see if she has any last-minute openings. My face is a WRECK. I love my facial girl b/c she usually goes above and beyond what I pay for (it's an Aveda salon and I'll usually book the "express facial" which is 30 minutes, and she'll usually spend almost an hour if she has the time, plus she'll use all the "Outer Peace Facial" ingredients, which is way more expensive. The downside is that she TALKS MY HEAD OFF. She knows I'm a nurse, so usually, there's some medical advice she's seeking, etc. I don't mind, but sometimes I just want to RELAX already. I may have to cheat on her and go to their sister salon, which is way closer to my house since I moved last year anyway. That probably means I'll have to splurge and get the more expensive facial though...

Okay, well. Tomorrow is the start of a fresh new week in terms of food, points, exercise and my reaction to stress- i.e., there should BE NO stress since I am on vacation, and away from work for 17 days. SEVENTEEN!!! I know one thing- I want to make EACH day count, as I am well overdue for a real vacation. I didn't take one at all this summer, and last year's vacation was spent moving from my apartment to my townhouse and painting. Ick.

I kept my house in pretty reasonable order this week while I worked. There is probably 20-30 minutes of tidying up to do, but other than that, it's all good. And that is a lovely way to start out my vacation! Glad I spent the time over last weekend making things pretty.
