I'm a Monster.

Yup, just like that weird little orange "Hungry Monster" from Weight Watchers. That is me in the mornings when I get home from work. I always try to pack something to eat just prior to going home, like greek yogurt and fruit, but ultimately, that gets tossed back into my fridge when I get home in lieu of weird combinations of comfort food that I don't have to cook (because I am too tired to cook). Here's a rundown of what I ate when I walked in the door this morning:

Leftover Kashi Mexicali Pizza (6.5)
7 Pieces Dark Chocolate (7)
2 Servings Turkey Pepperoni (4)
4 slices of reduced fat swiss (4)
Pringles (2)

That's 23 points! Ack! It's like I crave naughty, indulgent comfort food, but I'm exhausted after being up all night. So, I don't want to cook, but I often am simply NOT craving the healthy stuff that I pack. I think I'm going to look in my pantry and see if I have some oatmeal or grits or something. Maybe that will trick my brain better than fruit and yogurt. Honestly, I have such bad memories of my mom packing fruit and yogurt, or the dreaded fruit and cottage cheese in my school lunches to try to help me eat healthier. I used to have this "thermos" that she'd pack the cottage cheese in, with either peaches or pineapples, and it never was cold by lunch time, more like lukewarm. Ewww. Those are my first "dieting" memories. And they started in 2nd grade. Seriously, what other 2nd grader was chowing on cottage cheese and fruit? Don't worry, I made up for it by learning to binge when I got home from school. Sneaking food is something I got really good at all during my school days. It wasn't until I played tennis in high school that I could actually eat like that and not gain weight. So you see, I'm working with a lifetime of bad eating habits, and bad emotional management. It's still pretty much second-nature to handle exhaustion, stress, boredom, sadness, anger and frustration by eating too much food that I'm not actually hungry for.

I do give kudos to myself today though, for taking a positive step and avoiding my desire to just not journal my food today. I wrote it all down and watched my WPA wittle down to near nothing. But I also worked out with the EAS Active game for the Wii today. This game is the perfect solution to my need for a quick workout on work days. I honestly think all the other Wii fitness type games suck ass and aren't a good workout, but the EAS one is FUNNNN and my butt is SO sore from the squats I did yesterday! Today I designed my own workout with boxing, tennis, dance, running and walking. It was great! I think I'm going to take it to D's house this week too.

My friend G's wedding photographer called me today. I had emailed her last night for some info on her photo packages. Her work is AH-MA-ZING, and even if I have to have a BBQ in my back yard, that's what I'll do in order to have her do our pictures. Her photos have this certain vintage, unstaged look to them. I can't wait! Okay, I must go get ready for work. We're having a going away party for one of our nursing assistants who is moving to Florida so her hubby can go to med school. She is a doll, so I'm hoping my neighborhood Baskin Robbins has a pre-made ice cream cake that I can pick up on the way to work. Others are bringing food, but it's Chick-Fil-A, and I can definitely do without, so it's leftover stirfry and maybe a bit of ice cream cake for me! No worries, I'll count it!
