Just Blah.

Almost always, whenever I have a good day food and exercise-wise, I feel great. Well, that was not the case yesterday. I'd eaten rather low in points that day, in anticipation of dinner and a drink or two with my friend Jess. I was probably a little dehydrated in retrospect, but I set off for the gym in the afternoon with my big bottle of water. I did my C25K training, and felt a little lightheaded towards the end. I went down to the women's locker room stretching area to do some crunches on the stability ball, plus a few arm weights, and I was just overcome with an icky feeling. I wanted to chug the water, but it was making me feel nauseous. I had to make a trip to Target after the gym, where I felt ill the entire time.

I ended up cancelling my dinner plans last night in favor of lying on the couch. I fell asleep around 5pm and woke up starving. I had 18 points left for the day because I'd planned on a rather pointy dinner, plus a drink or two. So I ended up gorging myself on 18 points worth of snacks. This was very unsatisfying, so I ended up eating a huge midnight bowl of cereal. So, today, YET AGAIN, I am starting from scratch. I am more hydrated, and I'm planning on a late evening gym visit so that I can get some things done around the house first. I'm headed to the grocery store, then back to cook a little and clean the house and finish a few projects before my mom comes tomorrow. She was going to come today, but is feeling a bit under the weather, so she will try again tomorrow morning. This changes my plans in terms of dinner tonight, but that is okay. I've been itching to try this new recipe for a while, so I'll get cracking on that. It's a Buffalo Chicken Stromboli. I modified it from a Rachel Ray recipe and it's 13 points per serving. That's a little steep, but that's for 1/4 of the stromboli. I think 1/8th would be plenty, and then that would be a 6.5 point meal. I'll pair it with some steamed broccoli and maybe some fresh strawberries for dessert. Yum.

I feel this is worth a mention too. I bought some Nivea brand lotion yesterday that claims to have both toning and tanning properties. Normally I hate these kinds of things because of the horrid smell, however I read some reviews online and this one is supposedly less stinky. I tried it last night after a bath, and it's really nice. It's one of those "gradual" tanners, but I swear I'm a little more glowy today and my skin is gloriously soft! There is a slight smell to the lotion, but nothing at all like the usual "burnt skin" smell. I still will probably only use it at night, but I think it's really going to help me to not be so blindingly white on our beach trip at the end of May. I'm adopting a new philosophy this year in regards to tanning. I'm only doing what I need to do to get a healthy glow. No lying in tanning beds, no lying in the sun for hours, always using sunscreen in favor of tanning oils and other dark tanning potions. I may not be as tan this year, but as I move towards 30 years old, I think it's time to shift my attitude about sun. After all, my friends who worship the tanning beds look at least ten years older than the rest of us. I'm just giving it all up.

Here's to having a better day today. I plan on spending more time lifting weights at the gym after my run, so I'm looking forward to an awesome workout.
