I met with my trainer, Ginger, today. She is tiny, but muscular. Basically, everything I am not. She is nice, and quiet while we work (so am I when I'm concentrating), but she pushes me. At the same time, her intuition tells her when I'm about to puke, and I appreciate that. Because I almost puked on her in the last 5 minutes of our session. I have a feeling I'm not going to be able to walk tomorrow (or sit, squat, bend, or lift), but that is a good thing.
She believes I can be at my goal weight by my wedding date. She has trained several other nurses and knows the demands of our crazy schedules. I really think this is going to make a huge difference in my life! We meet again Monday morning. HOPEFULLY, I will have recovered from today's session by then. Tomorrow I think I'll practice for the 5k that is next weekend. I really plan on alternating running 5 minutes, walking 5 minutes throughout the whole race. No plans to win my age group or anything. I basically just want to know what it's like to *do* a 5k and see if it's something I'm interested in doing again. A research mission, if you will.
Last night was a good, albeit very busy night at work, and only my 2nd night on my own. It's hard being an "assistant manager" on a floor in a hospital where you've never worked. People depend on you for answers and sometimes you don't know. I think the main thing is taking the initiative to find the answers when you don't know- or having some idea of where to look or who to call. I think I'm being received pretty well by my coworkers, although there are a few who are hard to crack, personality-wise. I work tonight and Friday night and then I'm off for the weekend.
I had a moment of panic living in this tiny apartment the other day. I was ready to buy a house in BFE on almost 5 acres of land. If it's any indication of how far in the country it was, it was eligible for one of those "rural home loans" by the government. Holy crap, what was I thinking! I'm back to reality now and thinking that I'd be totally freaked out with absolutely NO neighbors. Every noise would send me running for my shotgun! I think the better plan is for me to pay off my credit cards and get my "six-month nest egg" in place before we buy, so that when I finally put my house up for sale, we can cover the mortgage if there is not a renter there while it's on the market. That's the plan, Stan. I have to do some major budgeting overhall this weekend, as well as some minor Christmas shopping. Ugh, I'm just not feeling it this year. I tried to get Dave to agree to no presents for each other, but that was a no go. He has a DVD request list a mile long. :)
Off to work I go!
