First things first: I didn't get that huge, "first week on the program" loss that I'd yearned for, but that was to be expected. I did lose 1.4 pounds, and I'll take that! I'm hoping to lose at least that much this week as well.
So, I tried a different meeting today to see if the leader and the crowd were any more vibrant. Here are my observations:
-Weight Watchers must be a good paying gig, because the leaders stay around FOREVER. I think I mentioned that I remembered the leader from last week from when I went to meetings there about 6-7 years ago. Well, I remembered the one today, ALSO from 6-7 years ago. But that says something about going on to become a leader though- because they have all maintained their goal weights for that long as well.
-There are idiots and people who love to hear themselves talk at ALL meetings. Saturdays seem to bring a better mix of people in general, but some people just don't get how annoying they come across as. I got there 15 minutes early, and I listened to this lady talk about how she was in school getting something like three degrees at once, and that is why she was overweight. She then went on to talk about herself even more once the meeting started.
-Then there was the lady who claims that even though she had been on Weight Watchers for over a year, she hadn't really lost a lot of weight, but she'd lost a lot of inches. Yeah. Okay. I know that when you work out, you gain muscle and your body reshapes itself somewhat, but there is no way you can lose a tremendous amount of inches and not lose weight as well. Hearing people say things like that makes me feel sorry for them. Because I have been there, and I have told myself those same kinds of lies.
I treated myself to a salad from Qdoba, which was pointy, but hey, I think a bowl full of veggies is a better choice than some of the other things I was craving, such as pizza and subs. I knocked out a few servings of veggies, and got my spicy food kick. I swear I don't get why some people go to mexican places and then they want the servers to make their meal as tasteless as possible. I listened to the lady in line behind me order essentially, white rice with chicken on top, and then had them add "just a tiny spoonful of the absolute mildest salsa you have". WHY?!? Spicy tastes goooooood! Not to mention, spices usually don't have points. My favorite salad topping is the pico de gallo, and it's 0 points. In fact, I tell them to hold their dressing because I don't think it's that spectacular anyway. I'd rather have the pico!
I'm making peanut satay chicken skewers for dinner, assuming it's not raining out, so I can get to the grill. With the hurricane, one minute it's sunny, the next it's pouring! Then it's off to work tonight for me. I'm reallyreallyreally trying to be mindful of my eating at work- the place I get into the most trouble at! I'm going to pay attention to H.A.L.T (Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired) this week too. Have a great weekend, everyone!!
