Meeting #1

All in all it was just okay. I went to the midtown Weight Watchers center for the 12:30 meeting. I got there at noon, as they suggest so that you can fill out paperwork. Well, that took all of 3 minutes, and then I was left alone in the meeting room to read my new materials, which was perfectly fine. People didn't even start showing up until about 12:25, and I'd say there were about 9-10 of us, total. And no one talked! The leader was good about calling on people, and she was actually not terrible, it was just the crew that was there were kind of blah! At any rate, I'll probably only go to that meeting 1-2 more times and then I'll be at my other location permanently and I can get the goods on which are the better meetings to attend. I'll have to go to different ones anyway, based on whatever my work schedule is for that week.

But you know what? The leader was really nice. I explained that I wasn't exactly a newbie, but that I'd decided to switch from online to meetings because I was having trouble being accountable to myself anymore. She made me feel 100% okay about this. She said, "You know, I don't think I could ever do online only. If I had to just be accountable to myself, I'd start pretending like the number on the scale didn't exist whenever it started to creep up." I also explained the whole moving situation and even though she knows I won't be going to her meetings for too long, she gave me her email address and promises to keep me on her email chain of WWers, where she sends new food finds, recipes and tips. That's pretty cool!

And now I'm sitting back, sipping a Diet Mountain Dew Ultra Violet (saw it for the first time today at Target), and reviewing my new Weight Watchers materials. Something about the pen and paper journal just really feels good to me. I think I'll use the eTools journal just to kind of map out my week, and I'll record what I REALLY eat into the paper journal so that I can have it on hand to show my leaders if I ever I have questions or struggles with my menus.

I'll give a proper review of the new Dew once this cold of mine is gone. My taste buds are totally whacked out right now. Nothing tastes particularly great. This did save me quite a few points at Panera today when I only finished half my half salad, half of my whole grain baguette and about 2/3 of my Summer Corn Chowder. Nothing was tasting so great that I felt the need to scarf it down, not to mention I was pretty full just eating that amount. Hurrah for small victories, even if they are common cold-induced!
